Bunny Holocaust
In a costume shop in Fort Worth, Texas, I spotted a shelf
of Easter Bunny costume heads on the wall behind the
cash register. Separated from the rest of the costume,
the heads looked decapitated - with the last glassy-eyed,
manic grinned expressions now frozen forever.
I imagined all the bunnies lining up on the scaffold
behind the guillotine and waving goodbye to the weeping
children assembled below..The bunnies' only crime has
been stealing eggs to feed the poor.
The Revolutionary Rooster Tribunal had deemed unborn
chick adduction a heinous a crime and only capital
punishment would satisfy the outraged egg layers.
